Like so many people in recovery, I used to think that I had to enhance every experience by adding alcohol and/or drugs to the equation.
While it is most definitely true that intensity of experience would be notched up, it's also true that that mindset took me out of myself, and led me down a terrible path.
This was a gorgeous sunset in the New York Harbor. And I was there, present, in the moment, as it happened.
